CENTRAL COMMISSION FOR HOLDING ELECTIONS AND REFERENDUMS IN TURKMENISTAN
In accordance with the article 46 of the Electoral code of Turkmenistan, on February 21, 2022, the candidates for the Presidential Elections of Turkmenistan, which will be held on March 12, 2022, were nominated by the citizens’ suggestion groups. Hydyr Kakabaevich Nunnayev, vice-rector for scientific works of the Turkmen state institute of physical culture and sports, and Maksat Myradovich Odeshev, chairman of the Saparmurat Turkmenbashy etrap committee of the Democratic party of Turkmenistan, were nominated.
Meetings of the citizens' suggestion groups for nomination were held in the conference hall of the Ashgabat city hakimlik as well as in the the conference hall of the Dashoguz velayat hakimlik.
The meeting was attended by members of citizens' suggestion groups and members of the media.
To this day, six candidates have been nominated by the citizens' suggestion groups.
