CENTRAL COMMISSION FOR HOLDING ELECTIONS AND REFERENDUMS IN TURKMENISTAN

The article 29 of Constitution of Turkmenistan states that men and women have equal rights in our country. This equality of women will also be reflected in the general democratic elections which will be held on March 26, 2023. 

Specifically, those participating in the election are:

- 33.34 percent of members of the Central election commission;

- 19.70 percent of members of velayat, Ashgabat city election commissions;

- 32.33 percent of members of etrap and city with etrap right election commissions;

- 41.75 percent of members of district election commissions;

- 40.01 percent of members of city in etrap, township, gengeshlik election commissions;

- 43.45 percent of members of precinct election commissions are women.

 Also registered at the elections:

- 15.89 percent of candidates for deputies of Mejlis of Turkmenistan; 

- 32.04 percent of candidates for membership of velayat halk maslahats; 

- 33.98 percent of candidates for membership of etrap, city halk maslahats;

- 30.72 percent of candidates for membership of Gengeshliks are women. 

In addition, 50.47 percent of national observers observing the elections at the local level are women.
