Preparations for the international conference are proceeding at a high level

During in the Revival of the new era of a powerful state large-scale reforms initiated by the National Leader, implemented at a high level under the wise leadership of our Hero Arkadagly Serdar significantly increased the authority of our country in the international arena. This is also fully confirmed by the successes achieved in the implementation of the foreign policy strategy of our country, the development of international cooperation and unanimous support of the international community for the international initiatives put forward by our Hero Arkadag and the esteemed President in the search for positive solutions to issues related to human development.

As you known, on April 11, 2025, at the 63rd plenary meeting of the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly, the Resolution “Additional information on the modalities of the Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries” was unanimously adopted and in accordance with it, the General Assembly supported the decision to hold an international conference in August this year in the Avaza National Tourist Zone in Turkmenistan. This was another manifestation of the recognition by the international community of our country’s initiatives and their high significance in the international arena.

Currently, comprehensive work is underway to organize international forums, meetings and state events in honor of the proclamation of 2025 as the “International Year of Peace and Trust” and the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s permanent Neutrality. In addition, preparations are underway to hold the third high-level meeting on landlocked developing countries under the auspices of the United Nations on the Turkmen coast of the Caspian Sea in August.

It is worth noting that, on the initiative of Turkmenistan, on August 15-16, 2022 an international meeting of transport ministers of landlocked developing countries was successfully held in the Avaza National Tourist Zone under the auspices of the UN. During the meeting, such important issues as the creation of sustainable transport corridors were discussed.

Recently, on July 4, at a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers held in a digital format the esteemed President Serdar Berdimuhamedov signed a Resolution on holding the Third United Nations Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries in the Avaza National Tourist Zone from August 4 to 8 this year. The Head of state instructed the relevant leaders to hold this forum at a high level, which will contribute to increasing the economic opportunities of landlocked developing countries, expanding interregional and international trade relations.

Currently, country’s ministries and departments are preparing for this conference at a high level. The participation of the Secretary-General of the United Nations is also expected. This shows that our country’s initiatives in areas requiring joint efforts are treated with great respect. This forum on landlocked developing countries organized by the UN is held once every 10 years. The international forum will be attended by representatives of various levels of landlocked developing countries, least developed and small island developing countries, regional and international organizations, as well as large companies. The main goal of this forum – to strengthen the economies of landlocked developing countries, develop transport and logistics infrastructure, expand international and regional trade ties and ensure effective participation of these countries in the global economic system.

As you known, 32 countries in the world that are considered to be landlocked developing countries. The total population of these countries exceeds 500 million people, which in turn creates a number of problems, including remoteness from sea trade routes and major world markets, high transportation costs, logistical problems at the borders, dependence on the political stability and trade policies of neighboring countries. This situation puts them in a more difficult position in the world trade system and requires the search for special strategies to overcome these geographical limitations.

Thus, the Third Conference of Landlocked Developing Countries, which will be held under the auspices of the UN in the Avaza National Tourist Zone from August 4 to 8 this year, will play an important role in developing cooperation for the benefit of global development, serving as an open dialogue platform for a friendly exchange of views and determining priority areas of multilateral cooperation within its framework.
