The Central Election Commission announced the final results of a single voting day

On April 3, 2019, was held a meeting of the Central Commission for holding elections and referendums in Turkmenistan, where were summed up the final results of the elections instead of the early retired deputies of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan, members of velayat, etrap and city Halk maslahaty and Gengeshes, which held on March 31, 2019.

Elections underlined at the meeting were held on the principles of alternativeness, publicity and openness, which was a confirmation of Turkmenistan’s commitment to the democratic path of development and the course of progressive reforms by esteemed President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.

All stages of the election campaign were organized in a timely manner, in accordance with the requirements of current national legislation and generally accepted international norms. Voting took place in 222 polling stations, on the territory of 125 constituencies.

A feature of the current campaign was the high activity of voters. According to the CEC in the elections instead of early retired:

     • deputies of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan out of 80 thousand 230 voters voted 73 thousand 106 people, activity was 91.12%;

     • members of the velayat Halk maslahaty and the Ashgabat city out of 50 thousand 713 voters voted 46 thousand 80 people, activity was 90.86%;

     • members of the etraps, city Halk maslahaty out of 44 thousand 93 voters voted 39 thousand 997 people, activity was 90.71%;

     • members of the Gengeshes out of 33 thousand 312 voters voted 30 thousand 281 people, activity was 90.90%.

During the agenda of today's meeting were announced the final results of the elections. In accordance with the final data of the chairmen of the election commissions of the velayats and Ashgabat city, over the country from 7 candidates for deputies of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan were elected 3 people, out of 11 candidates for members of the velayat Halk maslahaty and Ashgabat city were elected 4, and from 36 candidates for members of the etrap, city Halk maslahaty were elected 16 people, out of 227 candidates for members of the Gengeshes were elected 102 people. Totally, from 281 registered candidates were elected 125 people. In all constituencies, for one mandate were stood two or more candidates.

The deputies elected instead of retired: in the constituency № 54 "Baidak" Dashoguz velayat - Gurbangul Kakalievna Ataeva; №106 “Vekil” of the Mary velayat - Ata Oveznepesovich Serdarov; №109 “Sakarchage” of the Mary velayat - Mekan Charyevich Gurbanov. During the meeting of the Central Election Commission, to elected members of the national parliament were handed certificates. From this moment, they are full representatives of the people in the highest legislative body of the country.

Among the elected deputies of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan, members of the Halk maslahaty and Gengeshes, 47 representatives from the Democratic Party, 6 - Parties of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, 27 - Agrarian Party, 45 - groups of citizens.

At the meeting of the CEC, there were reviewed and approved the lists of elected deputies of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan, as well as members of the Halk maslahaty and Gengeshes, which will be published in the mass media in the coming days in accordance with the provisions of the current national legislation.

Speaking at the CEC meeting, the leaders of the capital and velayat election commissions stated the high educational and professional level of the people's representatives. Among them are representatives of different nationalities working in government institutions, various sectors of the national economy, agriculture, in the spheres of education and science, culture and art.

The meeting participants stated that the elections were held at a high organizational level, in accordance with the current legislation in the country and generally accepted norms of international law.

357 national observers from representatives of political parties, public organizations and associations, groups of citizens and the candidates, who confirmed that the elections were organized, correctly, without significant violations, carried out full monitoring of all stages of the election process.

During the meeting, there were again expressed gratitude to all participants of the past election process, including representatives of the mass media, who provided high-level information support for the election campaign.

In conclusion, noting the progressive nature of the democratic transformations taking place in Turkmenistan, the meeting participants noted the progressiveness and foresight of the policy pursued by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.
