In accordance with the instructions and directions of the esteemed President of Turkmenistan to study international experience in organizing and holding elections on June 9, 2025, delegation headed by the Deputy Chairman of the Central commission for holding elections and referendums in Turkmenistan visited Warsaw, Republic of Poland at the invitation of the Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (OSCE).
The purpose of the visit was to hold bilateral meetings with the Director and representatives of the OSCE Office for democratic institutions and human rights to get acquainted with the work of this Office, as well as to discuss prospects for cooperation.
The delegation’s visit to the headquarters of the OSCE Office for democratic institutions and human rights was attended by the Permanent Representative of Turkmenistan to the UN Office in Geneva (Swiss Confederation, Geneva), Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan to the Swiss Confederation (Geneva), First Secretary of the Embassy of Turkmenistan in the Republic of Austria, Head of the Humanitarian Department of the OSCE Center in Ashgabat, representatives of the Central commission for holding elections and referendums in Turkmenistan, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, the Mejlis of Turkmenistan and representatives of the mass media.
Opening the meeting Maria Telalian Director of the Office for democratic institutions and human rights (ODIHR) OSCE, expressed gratitude to the turkmen delegation for accepting the invitation and coming to this meeting. Maria Telalian also expressed hope that this meeting would become a significant and new page in the development of future cooperation through dialogue.
Then bilateral meetings were held with representatives of OSCE/ODIHR units.
During the meetings, representatives of the departments reported on the areas of their work and expressed their willingness to develop further cooperation with Turkmenistan in these areas.
At the end of the day, the results of the meetings with the participation of OSCE/ODIHR Director Maria Telalian were summed up.
The Turkmen side expressed gratitude for the invitation of Maria Telalian and for the organization of the event, which will contribute to the development of bilateral cooperation.
